I've been catching up recently with David Hitchcock (Black Boar Press) on email, haven't spoken for an age. I originally met him at a Bristol Con when he was promoting and selling the Eagle Award Winning Spring Heeled Jack, (a title which still amazes and inspires me to this day!) and cought up with him at BICS last year where he showed me some of his latest work in progress, some truly beautiful painted artwork.
Dave is a very humble, dedicated and an exceptionally talented writer and artist, who I've found always willing to spare time at cons and discuss his art (which I think anyone would be hard pressed to imitate) and share some tips of the trade.
Having re-read SHJ last night I urge anyone with an interest in fantastically illustrated comics and graphic novels and dark, elegant pencil shaded comic artwork to check out his titles. (We're talking about a creator who impressed Mike Mignola!)
Dave's blog is here http://davehitchcock.blogspot.com/ featuring some truly original interpretations of some well known comic characters and the latest offerings from his gothic graphite!
(....and Dave, if you're reading this, it would be a `good idea', and I'm sure it would be a hit!)

*Some musings, as I near completion of the writing process.*
I think someone must have been peeling onions nearby in the very early
hours of this morning,...
